Drywall calculator

Enter the total surface area to cover (add up walls and ceilings). Includes a waste allowance for cuts around doors, windows, and corners — 10–15% is typical.

How to use it

  1. Add up the wall and ceiling area you're covering and enter it as length × height.
  2. Pick your sheet size (4 × 8 is the standard).
  3. Set a waste % (10–15%) and read off the number of sheets.

How it's calculated

We divide the total surface area by the area of one sheet (a 4 × 8 sheet is 32 ft²), add your waste percentage, and round up to whole sheets.
